Friends, They Make Life Worth Living

Contemplating a couple of technical articles, but with a holiday tomorrow all I can think about is having a great holiday tomorrow.  We are going to another family’s house for a pool party barbecue.  We have many friends and many levels of friends, but having great friends makes all the difference in the world.  We have other great friends, but we share vacations with this couple and we just enjoy hanging out with them.

That is the greatest feeling, having friends you love to be around that is. Now if my other friends are reading this, don’t worry we love you too.  The more friends you have in your life the more rich your life will be.  I hope you have great friends, too.  If not, then invite me over because I am fun to hang out with ;-).

Father’s Day

I want to wish all of the father’s out there a wonderful Father’s Day.  I spent the day with my Dad today, not that I needed a special day but it is important to me to let him know that I appreciate everything he did for me.  Enjoy.

Father’s Day Weekend

Today my family cooked and prepared a nice ham dinner for my wife’s father and mother.  Or should I more appropriately say that my wife prepared the meal and I used my excellent meat cutting skills to slice the baked ham.  It is days like today that we live for, sharing stories, a good meal, and love.  I enjoy SQL Server and technology, but I love my family.  They are priority number one.  They are the reason that we go to work everyday.

I appreciate you reading this blog, but get off the computer and spend time with your family.

Memorial Day

Today we give thanks to all those veterans and soldiers who have made the ultimate sacrifice to ensure our freedom. Soldiers put their lives on the line day after day to ensure our way of life and today we should remember that sacrifice. Both of my granddads in WWII, my uncle in Vietnam, my brother-in-law in Iraq, my cousins in the Army including Patrick who died in service, and my stepdad spent a career in the Navy. I have many other relatives as do most of you who also served. Thank you can never be enough but it’s a start.

Who’s You’re Daddy?

Sitting around my Dad’s house for the Memorial Day weekend which always coincides with my birthday celebration weekend, the subject of ancestry always comes up. My sister and I have been tracking our ancestry especially with my parents are getting older this becomes more important for the two of us to pass this along to our children.j

My wife enjoys listening to the numerous stories of my childhood and all the stories of our family and our crazy relatives; when you’re from the South you always have crazy relatives. The repetition is helpful so that these stories are remembered, now my wife is recording all of this into ancestry.com to coincide with her history. My sister has recorded part of this history, and thankfully we have a Civil War heritage that does not include any Yankees, which would’ve been disgraceful for any self-respecting Southerner. We are also part Native American, as well as Irish and Scottish so you can guess that we have a rich history with alcohol and fighting.

With all of this being said, I am reflecting on family and the greatest lesson I have learned in life is that no matter what happens in life all you have is your family, treasure it! Spend this wonderful weekend with your family. Enjoy.

Happy Mother’s Day!

Get off the computer and go spend the day with your Mother or Wife!  Enjoy and thanks again Mom for everything you do!

Happy Easter

Happy Easter!  I seriously hope that you are not working today!  Take the day off, walk away from the computer, go outside and breathe in the spring fresh air.  Spend the day with your family and savor the blessings that you have.  There is plenty of time for work tomorrow!  Enjoy!

Change of Plans

After long consideration, I have decided to change my career path.  After several meetings with out Oracle team, I have decided that their product is much more robust and the career possibilities are endless.  It also appears that their product is much easier to use and requires very little work so that I may sit in my cubicle playing angry birds or plumber crack all day long.  This is the career path for me.  Enjoy!
